Women's basketball falls to Lynx, 72-62

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Although Chanlir Segarra put up 22 points for the Vikings, the Berry College women's basketball team fell to Rhodes College, 72-62, on Sunday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Vikings to 16-7 overall and 8-4 in the Southern Athletic Association. The win improved the Lynx to 16-7 and 7-5 in the SAA.

The Lynx led 40-36 and never looked back.

Segarra's 22 points led the Viking offense. She was 7-19 shooting, as well as a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. 

Two other BC players scored double digit points in the game: Emma Cook and Mel McLean.

McLean put up 16 points on the afternoon, 12 of which came from beyond the three-point line. McLean was also a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line and collected seven rebounds in the loss.

Cook scored 15 points for the Vikes on 6-10 shooting. She also grabbed nine rebounds in the contest and was 3-6 from the free throw line.

For the Lynx, Dy'Nelle Todman posted a game-high 23 points in the win. Todman was 8-14 shooting, sinking two three-pointers. She also collected nine rebounds for Rhodes.

Although Rhodes shot 42-percent (27-63) to Berry's 36-percent (20-55), the Vikings led in rebounds (40-36), as well as free throws made (85-percent to 70-percent).

BC will host Centre College in their next game on Friday, February 20, at 6 p.m.​
