Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Jessica Salottolo had 18 points to lead the Cal Lutheran Women's Basketball to an 81-62 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday evening in a SCIAC match-up.

With the win, the Regals improve to 13-6 overall and 8-2 in the SCIAC, preserving their hold on second place. Pomona-Pitzer, which knocked Chapman out of a tie for second place with a win on Saturday, falls to 4-15 overall and 3-7 in league play.

Salottolo had 13 of her points in the first half, most of which came on fast breaks getting behind the Pomona-Pitzer defense, to help her team to a 34-25 lead at the break. Junior forward Amelia Hummel had eight points on 4-5 shooting in the first half for Pomona-Pitzer, but missed the close of the half with foul trouble as Cal Lutheran extended its lead.

The Regals started the second half with the first four points to push the lead to 13, before the Sagehens answered with two free throws from sophomore forward Basha Brulee-Wills and a jumper from freshman guard Anya Quig. However, Cal Lutheran scored the next six points to push the lead to 15 on a three-point play from Katie Lindor, and Pomona-Pitzer was unable to get the lead back down to single digits again the rest of the way.

Brulee-Wills led the Sagehens with 18 points, while Hummel finished with 15 points on 7-10 shooting and sophomore guard Alaina Woo added 13. Chelsea Jacoby joined Salottolo in double figures for the Regals with 12.

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action on Saturday when it travels to La Verne for a 2 p.m. contest.
