(BETHANY, W.Va.) – Four Saints scored in double-figures tonight (Wednesday, February 4, 2015) as the second-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated Bethany College, 90-52, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Hummel Field House in Bethany, West Virginia.

With the win, the Saints improve to 20-0 overall and 10-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Bison fall to 10-10 overall and 6-7 in the PAC.

Thomas More raced out to an early 28-8 lead when junior guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made two free-throws with 8:41 to play in the first half.  Bethany answered with a 9-4 run capped by a Kelsea Daugherty lay-up with 5:42 to play in the half to cut the lead to 32-17.  The Saints closed out the half on a 9-4 run to extend the lead to 41-21 at halftime when sophomore guard Kelly McDonald (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) made a lay-up with eight-seconds to play in the opening half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 23-6 run to increase the lead to 64-27 when freshman forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made a lay-up with 11:22 to play in the half.  The Bison responded with a 19-7 run capped by a Hayley Holenka three-pointer to cut the lead to 71-46 with 6:42 to play in the game.  That would be as close as Bethany would come as Thomas More closed the game on a 19-6 run for the 90-52 victory.

Thomas More forced 30 Bethany turnovers and out-scored the Bison 42-4 off turnovers and 56-12 in the paint.

Junior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) led all scorers with 18 points.  Joining her in double-figures was freshman guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 17 points, Kiernan with 15 points and junior forward Alexa Santamaria (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) with 11 points.  Santamaria and sophomore forward Kaylee Bush (Middletown, Ohio/Madison) led the team on the boards with eight rebounds each, while Owings led the team in steals with four and senior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in assists with six.

Thomas More continues its four-game PAC road trip on Saturday (February 7) when it travels to Greenville, Pennsylvania to play Thiel College in its third-straight road game.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.  inside Beeghly Gymnasium.
