GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Samantha Pagel (Harleysville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) poured in 21 points to lead the Gettysburg College women's basketball team to a 56-42 victory over Dickinson College inside Bream Gym Wednesday night.

Gettysburg (14-5, 8-5 CC), which came into the contest leading Division III in defensive field-goal percentage, held Dickinson (4-16, 2-13 CC) to 29.6 percent shooting in the contest. The Bullets also scored 15 points off 17 Red Devil turnovers.

Pagel posted her second 20-point effort of the season, finishing 9-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-5 at the free throw line. Freshman Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn Park), starting in place of leading scorer Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) who missed the game with illness, added 13 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.

The Bullets grabbed their first lead of the game as Pagel and Gibbons combined for every point during an 11-2 run to make it 18-11 with 9:34 left in the first half. The lead grew to 10 (26-16) following a pair of free throws by Gibbons later in the stanza and Pagel would maintain that margin with a lay-up to make it 30-20 heading into halftime.

The lead dipped to six (34-28) following a three-pointer by Liz Schultz early in the final stanza. Junior Emily Duggan (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) and Pagel hit back-to-back buckets to push the advantage back to double-figures. The lead would dip below 10 only twice in the final 14 minutes of play. Pagel capped her night and the game with an old-fashioned three-point play to set the final score with 1:32 to play.

Gettysburg out-scored Dickinson 36-14 in the paint. The Bullets shot 24-of-59 (40.7 percent) from the field and committed a season-low eight turnovers.

Duggan finished with eight points, five rebounds, three blocks and three steals, while freshman Annie Reilly (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) posted eight points, four rebounds, and four assists.
