Pitt-Bradford bounces back with impressive offensive performance against Hawks, 83-52

HAMBURG, NY—The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team went on the road to face Hilbert College Wednesday and came away with an impressive 83-52 victory.

Pitt-Bradford (13-6, 10-3) was led by an outstanding offensive performance from senior Alicia Kimmel (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) who contributed 23 points for the Lady Panthers. Freshman Ali Rinfrette (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) contributed 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Hilbert (2-16, 2-13) could not keep up with the Lady Panthers offensively. The offense for the Hawks was led by Shannon Rodgers with 13 points.

Pitt-Bradford started out the game strong against the Hawks, taking an early lead in the first half. The Lady Panthers kept a steady pace offensively taking their largest lead of the first half up 27-15 with 5:30 left until halftime.

Pitt-Bradford went into the locker room with the lead, 36-26. Kimmel led the Lady Panthers with 12 first half points and went 6-7 from the field.

The Lady Panthers exploded on offense to start the second half on a 14-4 run against the Hawks. Along with a fantastic offensive performance, the Lady Panthers shined on defense in the second half as well. Pitt-Bradford was able to convert 25 points off of forced turnovers in the second half to widen its margin against Hilbert.

The Lady Panthers went on a 15-1 run with 6:52 remaining in the second half and ended with 1:41 remaining. This marked the largest lead of the game for Pitt-Bradford at 83-46. Pitt-Bradford went on to win the contest, 83-52.

Head coach for Pitt-Bradford, Patrick Daniel said, "I am happy with how we played in the second half after a rough start in the first half. We played a lot better defense and executed on offense. I am looking forward to Saturday when we come back home and welcome back our alumni."   

The Lady Panthers face Penn State Altoona at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at KOA Arena. Starting at 11 a.m. Pitt-Bradford's women alumni will have its annual Alumni Game.
