The Buena Vista women's basketball team used a big second half on Saturday evening inside of Siebens Fieldhouse to complete the season sweep of Central College and to give head coach Janet Berry her 350th career win with a 68-58 victory.

Junior Lexi Fisher tied things up at 26-26 just before the halftime buzzer sounded, and the Beavers carried that momentum over into the second half.  With the game tied at 35-35 nearly six minutes into the second half, the team then went on a key 11-2 run over the next five minutes for a 46-37 lead.

Senior Becca Pennington later drilled a big three-point basket to give the Beavers a 52-41 cushion with less than 7:00 left, and the Beavers were able to maintain that advantage down the stretch.

Junior Jasmyn Flynn-Graves came off the bench and went 12-of-15 at the free-throw line and turned in a team-high 16 points, to go along with six rebounds.  Senior Shelby Wiederhoeft also gave the team a boost in the paint, registering 13 points and six rebounds.  Pennington added 11 points, including 6-of-6 at the free-throw line, to go along with four rebounds and five assists.

Fisher just missed out on double-figured with nine points, but did grab a team-leading seven rebounds.

The Beavers were held to only 34 percent shooting on the night, but did have a strong shooting performance at the charity stripe, going 26-of-32, compared to Central's 14-of-25.  They also outrebounded the Dutch, 45-29.

Kenzie Vander Molen led Central (9-10, 0-8 IIAC) with a game-high 17 points.

Buena Vista improves to 7-12 (2-6 IIAC) and will play its third straight home game on Wednesday night against Loras College.  Tip-off inside of Siebens Fieldhouse is set for 6:00pm.
