Pasadena, Calif. - Sophomore guard Alaina Woo knocked down eight three-pointers on her way to a career-high 25 points to help the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team overcome a slow start and capture a 68-60 win over Caltech on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Sagehens improve to 3-14 overall and 2-6 in the SCIAC, while Caltech remains winless at 0-19 overall and 0-10 in the conference. Woo was 8-16 from three-point territory overall to pass her previous career high of four three-pointers, set last year against La Verne (when she had a career-high 19 points).

The Beavers led by as many as eight points in the first half (23-15), but Woo was able to knock down three-pointers on two straight possessions late in the half to help the Sagehens take a 31-30 lead into intermission.

After an exchange of baskets to start the second half, Woo knocked down three-pointers on three separate occasions to push the lead to six each time, and then hit her eighth of the game (including six straight successful attempts) to put the Sagehens ahead 51-44 with 11:21 to play. Junior forward Amelia Hummel added a three-point play and a layup off a pass from Woo to push the lead to 10 points (56-46) with 8:41 to go and Pomona-Pitzer was able to hang on from there.
