Maura McAfee's season-high 26 points and 16 rebounds propelled the nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team to a 65-48 win at Adrian on Saturday.

The Flying Dutch upped their record to 16-2 overall and 8-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. They are ranked No. 12 by the USA Today Sports coaches poll and 14th by d3hoops.com.

McAfee came within one point of matching her career-high for points in a game. The junior from Midland, Michigan (Midland HS), matched her career-high in rebounds set twice last season: Nov. 19 at Calvin and March 8 at Carthage (Wisconsin) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Against Adrian, McAfee shot 75 percent from the field (12-of-16) and 66.7 percent from the foul line (2-of-3). She pulled down 11 defensive rebounds and five offensive rebounds.

McAfee reached her 11th double-double of the season in the first half alone with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Hope led 32-28 at halftime.

Adrian tied the score at 34-34 just 2 1/2 minutes into the second half.

The Flying Dutch then broke open the game with a 17-0 run over the next seven minutes.

Senior Brittany Berry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS), and freshman Madison Geers of Scottville, Michigan (Mason County Central HS), each added nine points. It was a career-high for Geers.

Senior Hannah Doell of Center Valley, Pennsylvania (Southern Lehigh HS), scored eight points for Hope.

The Flying Dutch return to action on Wednesday, January 28, when they host Alma. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.
