BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team celebrated Homecoming Day by cruising past Medgar Evers College, 81-27, in the APEX Main Gym on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning have now won three games in a row, all in CUNY Athletic Conference play.

Lehman (13-5, 7-3 CUNYAC) was led by junior guard Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland), who had a game-high 24 points, with seven assists and five steals. She went 7-14 from the field, including six three-point baskets.

After Medgar Evers (1-17, 0-10 CUNYAC) jumped out to an early lead, the Lightning completely took over the game by scoring 20 unanswered points, in a span of 5:55, to take a commanding 22-4 lead with 9:24 left to play in the opening half. Junior forward Amani Lightbourne (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton) and classmate Karrin Walker (New York, N.Y./Richard R. Green) nailed two three-point baskets each, during Lehman's run. The Lightning's defense played a key role during the rally by holding Medgar Evers scoreless for 7:27. Lehman dominated play for the rest of the game and went on to win their seventh CUNYAC game of the season.

Walker scored 16 points with 12 boards, and has now had a double-double in four of her last five games. She also forced six steals. Lightbourne scored 19 points and dished out seven dimes, while junior forward Yarmese Jones (Astoria, N.Y./William C. Bryant) added 12 points and seven rebounds. Junior forward Luisayra Madrigal (Bronx, N.Y./Monsignor Scanlan) produced six points, while freshman center Chayenne McPherson (Bronx, N.Y./Washington Irving Campus) tallied a career-high seven rebounds. Junior forward Linda McKeon (Yonkers, N.Y./Moyne C.S.) had six assists.
