SCHENECTADY, NY -- Kate Thompson scored a game high 16 points and Amy Fisher tallied 14 as the Union College women's basketball team defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 64-52 in a Liberty League game at the Viniar Athletic Center Saturday afternoon. The Dutchwomen improved to 10-7 and 4-5 in the Liberty League while the Engineers fell to 10-8 overall and 6-3 in the league.

Jenni Barra had 11 points and Abby Katz had a team best eight rebounds for Union, while Natalie Leone added seven boards. Thompson has six rebounds. Union outrebounded the Engineers, 41-37 and shot 40% while making 72% of the free throws (13-18).

Amanda Lynch scored a team high 15 to lead RPI, while Ashley Clough scored 11 and Shaina Iton had eight rebounds. RPI shot 35%.

Union led 31-29 at halftime, in a first half that featured five ties. The Dutchwomen never tailed in the second half. With RPI within three at 50-47 with 5:32 left after two free throws by Lynch, the Dutchwomen went on a 8-2 run for a 58-49 lead with 1:21 left. Fisher scored six points in that streak. Union led by as many as 15 with 31 seconds remaining.

The Dutchwomen are on the road next week with Liberty League games at Bard Frdiay and Vassar Saturday.
