The Saint Vincent Bearcats went on an early 16-0 run and never looked back, defeating Washington & Jefferson by a score of 90-61 in the Carey Center.

With the win, Saint Vincent improves to 7-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, setting up a showdown with #2-ranked Thomas More College on Saturday (January 17) in Kentucky.

The Presidents scored the game's first 6 points on a pair of three-pointers, but SVC answered with 16 straight points, as Mara Benenuti started the run at the 18:11 mark with a pull-up jumper.  After Hannah Carroll hit a three, Ally Schmidt went coast-to-coast and scored, giving the Bearcats a 7-6 lead, and from there the team pulled away from the visitors.  A pair of buckets by Taylor Mathers, surrounding another three by Carroll, making it 14-6.  After a W&J timeout, the SVC run continued with another score by Mathers at the 14:10 mark.

W&J then scored to make it 16-8, but SVC rattled off six more points, making it 22-8.

Later in the half, a conventional three-point play by Mathers made it a 20-point lead 43-23, and SVC took a 49-25 advantage into the locker room.

Valerie Dunlap came out of the locker room and scored 8 quick points for the Presidents, but the Bearcats regrouped quickly and maintained a large lead throughout the second half.

Mathers led all scorers with 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, one shy of her career high.  Carroll added 13 points, while Schmidt and Drew Meeker each tallied 11.  Jill Kegg had 6 assists.

Saint Vincent is now 13-1 overall on the season, while W&J drops to 10-4, 4-3 in the conference.

The Bearcats will travel to Crestview Hills, KY for the game against Thomas More, tipoff slated for 1PM.
