ALBION, Mich. – Mikaela Bromley knocked down a three-point basket with 31.8 seconds left to lift Albion College to a 54-53 victory over Kalamazoo College in Wednesday night Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

Albion shot 24 percent in the first half and trailed 27-18 after 20 minutes. The Britons trailed by seven with 13 ½ minutes left in regulation when they received a spark from first-year reserve guard Tori Henning. Henning hit a pair of free throws and a three-point basket as Albion reeled off a 10-1 run to seize a 34-32 lead with 10:51 left.

Neither team led by more than four from that point as the score was tied eight times. Bromley's basket gave Albion the lead for good and Olivia Savage hit the first of two shots from the free throw line to ice the victory.

"We responded great after playing hesitant in the first half," Albion Head Coach Doreen Carden said. "We didn't back down.

"Basketball is a game of runs," Carden added. "We were fortunate to have the last one."

Bromley led all players with 17 points, scoring 13 in the second half. Erin Nelson produced eight of her 12 points in the second half. Both players pulled down nine rebounds.

Grace Smith led Kalamazoo with 11 points and Emily Kozal and Perri Nicholson added 10 points apiece.

Albion will play its next two on the road, starting with a Saturday date at Saint Mary's College.
