AURORA, Ill. - Wisconsin Lutheran College 11th-year head women's basketball coach Klay Knueppel won his 200th career game as the Warriors defeated the Aurora Spartans 62-38 Saturday afternoon at Thornton Gymnasium.

WHERE THEY STAND

• The Warriors won their eighth straight game to improve to 9-3 overall and remained atop the league standings with a 7-1 record. The Spartans lost their second straight game to fall to 4-11 overall and 4-6 in the NACC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Warriors opened up a 10-4 lead 5:57 into the game as Kristen Schulz (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) netted six of her team's first 10 points.
• WLC built its first double-digit lead at 17-7 at the 9:27 mark, but the Spartans climbed within seven points points at 20-13. WLC led by at least 10 points for the final 4:55 of the first half.
• Wisconsin Lutheran led at halftime 34-17 as Schulz scored 15 points.
• The Warriors opened the second half on a 13-2 run to break open the game and take a 28-point lead with 10:47 left in the game.
• WLC built a game-high 30-point lead at 52-22 shortly after as it held AU to just five points through the opening 11:26 of the second half.
• Aurora came no closer than 22 points the rest of the way as the Warriors won their eighth straight game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Schulz scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season.
• The Warriors shot 37.7 percent (20-for-53) for the game, while the Spartans were held to just 28.8 percent (15-for-52). It was the Warriors' second-lowest shooting percentage of the season.
• WLC went 17-for-23 from the free throw line for 73.9 percent, its second-best performance of the year.
• Wisconsin Lutheran edged Aurora on the glass 37-36, but out-scored the hosts 20-6 on points in the paint.
• Caitlin Knueppel (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc for eight points. She has made at least one three-pointer in 11 of 12 games this season.
• The win moved Knueppel's collegiate coaching record to 200-87 at WLC.
• Shannon Koski scored 16 points to lead the Spartans, The next closest AU player netted five points.
