Aurora, NY – CaseyLynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) led all players with 21 points and 13 rebounds as the women's basketball team won its second game in as many days defeating host Wells College 62-59 Sunday afternoon at the Farenthold Athletic Wing.
Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) and Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) joined Fulton finishing in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) also chipped in with 12 points off the bench hitting on four of her eight field goal attempts.
SUNY Canton led by as many as 10 in the opening half after a made three-pointer from Fulton and a bucket in the paint from Tatiana Laroche (Elmont, NY) put the Roos up 21-11. SUNY Canton led 32-26 at intermission.
The Roos (2-9) held multiple leads of 10 in the second half including a 61-51 advantage with 3:24 remaining in the contest after a Fulton lay-up. The Express (2-6) used a 6-0 run to get within four points and eventually had the ball down three points with 13 seconds remaining.
Sayer came up with a big defensive play blocking a three-pointer from Holli Erkson with seven seconds remaining as Fulton hauled in the defensive board to preserve the 62-59 victory.
SUNY Canton shot 40 percent from the floor, while Wells hit on just 35 percent of its field goal attempts. The Roos also made 21 trips to the free throw line compared to just eight for the Express.
