Claremont, Calif. - Sophomore Basha Brulee-Wills had 23 points and 16 rebounds but it wasn't quite enough as the Cal Lutheran Women's Basketball team remained perfect in the SCIAC with a narrow 67-59 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon at Voelkel Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 2-10 overall and 1-2 in the SCIAC, while Cal Lutheran improves to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in conference with the win.

Jessica Salottolo had 16 of her 21 points in the first half to stake Cal Lutheran to a 28-24 lead at the break. Chelsea Jacoby started the second half with two threes to stretch the lead to nine, but Brulee-Wills answered with her first trey of the season to cut the lead to six. That started an 8-0 run that cut the lead to 35-34 on a three-point play from sophomore McKenna VanderKley, but the Sagehens were unable to come all the way back.

Katy Lindor hit back to back jumpers for Cal Lutheran to get the lead back up to five and the Regals gradually built their lead up to as many as 12 (52-40) with 7:48 left. Pomona-Pitzer dug down, though, and a steal and fast break layup from Brulee-Wills cut the lead all the way down to 55-52 with 4:11 to go.

After Cal Lutheran hit a foul shot and earned a stop, Lindor then made a back-breaking three-pointer with 3:42 to go to push the lead to seven, and the Sagehens were unable to get it closer than five the rest of the way.

Brulee-Wills shot 7-14 from the floor and 8-13 at the line on her way to 23 points and added 16 rebounds, giving her averages of 17.0 ppg and 14.7 rpg through her first three SCIAC games. Junior forward Amelia Hummel added 12 points for the Sagehens and VanderKley chipped in with 11. Jacoby had 14 points for Cal Lutheran, and Lindor had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Wednesday for a road game at Chapman, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
