Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Baruch to Overtime Win at DeSales

Five different players scored at least nine points to help the Bearcats to an impressive 69-63 overtime victory over the Bulldogs of DeSales University on Monday evening in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.

The visiting Bearcats trailed throughout portions of the contest, including 46-38 with 9:13 left, but rallied in the final minutes to tie the contest at 58 on a jumper by
Iyana Abramswith 53 seconds left.

The two teams each had possession in the final seconds of regulation, but neither scored to force overtime with the score at 58.


Kristen Podlovitsstarted the overtime with a three and Alicea Ulmerscored on a layup to build a five-point (65-60) cushion with 3:41 remaining in overtime.

The Bulldogs scored on their next possession but
Veronica Ganzihit a jumper to raise the lead back to five. That was enough as the Bulldogs were limited to only one point the rest of the way to suffer the home defeat, while the Bearcats defeated their second straight non-conference opponent from a power conference.

Francess Henry(five steals) and Ganzi finished with 14 points each, while Abrams totaled 13 points, seven assists, five rebounds and one steal.

Ulmer narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds. Podlovits totaled nine points, four assists and two steals off the bench.

Sheridan Taylorcontinued her climb up Baruch's all-time women's rebounding charts with 10 more rebounds.

The Bearcats connected on four-of-six field goal attempts in overtime to clinch the win.

The women's basketball team will quickly return to action Tuesday night, January 6, with a CUNYAC doubleheader against the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The women tip at 5:30 pm, followed by the men at 7:30 pm.
