Led by the hot shooting of senior guard Leigh-Ann Lively (Bangor, Pa.), the No.1-ranked FDU-Florham women's basketball team overcame a 12-point deficit to prevail with a 72-62 victory over University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Tuesday afternoon at the D3hoops.com Classic.

Lively nailed a Devils single-game record seven 3-pointers in the victory and now is just five more threes away from setting the school's all-time mark, which is currently held by Emily Cerankowski (153).The senior guard finished with a career-high 26 points in the win, which led all scorers.

Lively was not the only one to have a milestone afternoon, as
head coach Marc Mitchell earned career win number 100. Mitchell is the program's winningest coach with a career record of 100-47 (.680).

For the second-straight day, the Devils (10-0) received a scare from a Wisconsin-based opponent. After narrowly edging Stevens Point 60-58 yesterday, FDU-Florham had its hands full with Platteville today.

The Devils were unable to find an offensive rhythm from the outset and were held without a field goal for nearly five minutes before Lively finally knocked down a 3-pointer. After falling behind 12-3, the Devils scored five-straight points with another Lively 3-pointer and a bucket from Kyra Dayon (Trenton, N.J.).

With 7:21 to play in the opening half, the Devils took their first lead at 22-21 thanks to Lively's third 3-pointer of the period. FDU-Florham's lead proved to be short lived as the Pioneers immediately regained the edge and held on to it through intermission. Platteville handed FDU-Florham its first half time deficit of the season leading 34-25 at the break.

The Devils struggled mightily from the floor and only made nine first-half field goals on 37 attempts for a season-low 24.9 percent. Lively led the top-ranked squad with nine points and three rebounds at the break, while Rachel Cropp supplied the firepower for the Pioneers with a half-best 13 points.

Less than three minutes into the second half, Platteville built its largest lead of the contest at 12 points. The Pioneers remained in front until 8:39 to go when Lively heated up from downtown. The senior guard set up shop on the right wing and buried a 3-pointer to bring the Devils within two at 47-45. A minute later, Lively struck again from the wing and drained another from downtown. She was fouled on the attempt and promptly converted the four-point play, which gave the Devils a 49-47 lead.

With the momentum in their favor, the Devils increased their lead with yet another Lively 3-pointer and layups fromShalette Brown (Somerset, N.J.) and Dayon to hold a 57-49 advantage with 4:26 to play.

FDU-Florham maintained control for the remainder of the contest and built their cushion to as much as 13 points before finalizing the 10-point victory.

Dayon filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots, while Kara Dayon(Trenton, N.J.) added 14 points and six rebounds in the victory.
