Alverno Shoots Season Best In Rout Of Northland

MILWAUKEE -- All 12 available Inferno players saw action and 10 scored as Alverno College rolled to an 82-51 victory over visiting Northland College Monday evening in Reiman Gymnasium.

Mollie Mikyska registered her third-straight double-double, and fifth of the season, as she led all with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The sophomore center shot a blistering 10-of-12 from the field in just 19 minutes of action.

Tessa Mersberger had a career-high 17 and Julie Gallegos scored 12 as the backcourt duo combined to shoot 9-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc and added a collective 11 assists.

Alyssa Mane also tied Gallegos for game-high honors with six assists in the freshman-transfer's first action in an Inferno uniform.

Alverno (3-7) led the entire way and shot season-bests from the field (52.5 percent) and the 3-point line (52.9) in the nonconference rout.

The Inferno also dominated the glass, 48-27, and held the LumberJills (1-5) to just 32.7 percent shooting.

Alison Blackford led Northland with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Brittany Raisanen came off the bench to add 11.

The win was the first for the Inferno over the LumberJills in the now three-game all-time series. Alverno is also 14-2 in its last 16 home games spanning to last season.

Alverno hosts the University of Wisconsin-Superior Tuesday night inside Reiman Gymnasium for its next action. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
