Mariners Down Green Mountain

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy Women's Basketball defeated North Atlantic Conference opponent Green Mountain College on Saturday afternoon, 81-26. The Mariners improve to 3-5 on the season and 1-3 in NAC play, while the Eagles fall to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference. 

The Mariners took an early 6-2 lead, following a pair of three-pointers to open up the game from Kristi Willey(Topsham, Maine) and Mary Badeen (Newport, Maine), and never looked back.

In the victory, the Mariners had three players reach double figures in points. Badeen recorded a game-high 27 points to lead the Mariners to their first conference victory of the season, adding nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Willey ended the afternoon with 16 points, and 11 rebounds for the double-double, while adding seven steals, six assists, and two blocks. Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) contributed 14 points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Allison Wadsworth led the Eagles with 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists, while Torie Cowell added seven points and five rebounds. 

The Mariners return to action on December 29th in Nashville, Tennessee for the Music City Classic where they will take on St. Vincent at 8:00 PM and Fontbonne at 3:00 PM on December 30th
