Mariners Cruise to 88-31 Victory over Clippers

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy (2-4) cruised to an 88-31 victory over non-conference opponent Maine-Machias (1-8) on Tuesday night, inside of Smith Gym.

The Mariners built a commanding 35-12 lead in the first half, led by Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) and Rachael Redles (Coopersburg, Pa.), who both had eight points.

The second half proved to be no different for Maine Maritime, as the Mariners grabbed the 88-31 victory.

Mary Badeen (Newport, Maine) led all scorers with 24 points, including 20 points in the second half alone. Badeen added 10 rebounds to grab a double-double, tallying seven steals and six assists. Mackenzie Vosburgh (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) contributed 15 points tying her career-high, while adding eight rebounds, and four assists.

McConkey and Redles ended the night with 14 points each, with McConkey grabbing 10 boards, to also pick up a double-double. Kristi Willey (Topsham, Maine) recorded a game-high 12 rebounds while adding five assists, and four points.

The Clippers were led by Ami Carver who ended the night with eight points, five rebounds, and a steal. While Taylor Cushing added eight rebounds, six points, and a steal.

The Mariners return to action this Friday when they host NAC rival Castleton at 5:30 PM, and Green Mountain College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
