TOWSON, Md. (Dec. 6, 2014) – The Drew University women's basketball team is on a five-game winning streak for the first time since 2009 after a 57-39 Landmark Conference victory at Goucher College on Saturday evening.

Led by sophomore Ryan Jackson's second consecutive career-high 18-point performance, Drew improves to 2-0 in the Landmark Conference. Junior forward Courtney Stephens dominated the paint for the Rangers and scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while also stuffing the stat sheet with seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Drew led coast-to-coast in their first road contest of the season and made up for a 1-of-13 mark in three-point shooting with just 10 turnovers and stingy defense. Goucher (3-4, 0-2 Landmark) shot just 17-of-57 (30 percent) from the floor in the conference setback.

An 8-0 run midway through the first half gave the Rangers the game's first advantage. Stephens started the scoring spurt with back-to-back layups with some quick pivots and decisive moves under the basket. Drew gained its first double-digit lead on senior guard Breana Wilson's only field goal of the game, a wide open three pointer from the top of the arc.

Jackson's hand heated up toward the end of the opening half as the sophomore netted two consecutive jumpers to give Drew the 22-10 lead with 5:47 left in the half. During the final five minutes of the first half, the Rangers and Gophers traded baskets with Drew spreading out the offense as seven different Rangers netted a field goal.

Goucher shot just 21 percent from the floor in the first half, leading to Drew giving up a season-low 14 points in a single half. The Rangers were outrebounded 22-18, but Goucher could not convert field goals to cut into the Drew lead. Goucher also committed 11 turnovers during the first 20 minutes, leading to 11 Ranger points.

Drew consistently held their double-digit lead throughout the second half by trading a few baskets and converting 12-of-15 from the free throw line. Goucher was winning the battles down low with significant advantages in rebounding and points in the paint, but the Gophers ended up with 20 turnovers and the poor shooting percentage doomed the home team on Saturday.

Fittingly, it was the Rangers' leader on Saturday, Jackson, who netted a jumper that gave the Blue & Green its largest lead of the afternoon; a 19-point, 43-24 advantage with 7:34 to play in the contest.

Drew returns to action for the Battle of Madison Ave. on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 5:00 p.m. at the defending NCAA Division III National Champion FDU-Florham, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation.
