Buena Vista Women Roll Past Martin Luther for Second Time this Season

More news about: Buena Vista

For the second time already this season the Buena Vista women's basketball team was taking on Martin Luther College, and for the second time it was the Beavers seizing control late in the first half en route to an 80-57 road victory on Tuesday night.

The Knights held the early 11-6 advantage before BVU began to take over control midway through the first half.  The Beavers closed the half on a 32-17 run to take a 38-28 lead into the locker room.

It was then all BVU over the final 20 minutes as the team led by as many as 29 with under five minutes to play.

Senior Shelby Wiederhoeft scored the first six points of the game for BVU and finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Jordan Tynes was also big for the Beavers off the bench, tallying 11 points and six rebounds.  Becca Pennington continues her torrid stretch, adding 15 points, including four three pointers, to go along with two assists and a pair of steals.

Sidney Beckman added three long range buckets to chip in with nine points, while Jasmyn Flynn-Graves made 4-of-7 shots from the field and also finish with nine.

The two teams did, however, combine for 54 turnovers in the contest, but the Beavers were able to capitalize off of them more than the Knights (1-4), holding a plus-18 advantage on points off turnovers.

Buena Vista improves to 5-3 on the year and will now be off until December 17 when it tips-off with Ashford on day one of the Wisconsin Dells Classic.  Start time of that contest is set for 1:30pm.
