READING, Pa. -- Junior Kelecia Harris recorded a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Albright women's basketball team to an 81-69 non-conference victory over Ursinus on Saturday in the Bollman Center.

Harris was dominant for the Lions as she finished the game 11-of-12 from the field and also added two blocks, a steal and an assist. It marked her fourth double-double of the season in Albright's five games.

"Our guard's are really starting to believe in Kelecia," said Albright head coach Janice Luck. "They know she can score and the guards assists are going up because they are finding her when she is open and not when she has to struggle to score. We executed very well tonight."

Albright (3-2) shot a season-high 54.2 percent from the floor for the game and outscored Ursinus 58-30 in the paint. The Lions frontcourt combination of Harris, Kadijah Bishop and Emily O'Donnell scored 53 points, collected 26 rebounds and blocked three shots.

"One of our game goals today was to improve our field goal percentage because we did not shoot the ball well in our last game at Cabrini," said Luck. "On Tuesday we played great defense, but we couldn't score. Today we came out scoring, which I was very pleased with."

Albright also received a double-double from Bishop who finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while O'Donnell added 13 points and six boards. Senior Jessica Venturelli added 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Ursinus (2-4) was led by Jessica Porada who scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Alyssa Polimeni and Ali Abbonizio each added 11 points for the Bears.

Albright controlled the game from the outset as the Bears only lead of the game came at 2-0 after a basket on their opening possession.

The Lions used a run midway through the first half to take a commanding lead.

Leading 22-20 with 9:03 to play in the opening period, Albright ripped off an 18-3 lead which stretched the margin to 41-23 with 3:56 remaining in the first half. Venturelli scored seven consecutive points during the run and Bishop and Shannon Thomas each had four points during the run.

Back-to-back layups by O'Donnell gave Albright a 46-31 lead at the intermission.

"We really executed our plays in the first half," said Luck. "Our first option on the offensive end was to go inside and the girls did that. We got the ball inside and we finished."

Ursinus opened the second half on a 7-0 run to cut the Lions lead to 46-38 with 17:31 to play in the game, but two free throws by Thomas and baskets by O'Donnell and Venturelli helped Albright extend the lead to 52-40 with 13:12 to play.

The Bears responded with a 9-3 run to trim the margin to 55-49 with 9:17 left in the second half.

Back-to-back baskets by Harris increased the Albright lead to 59-49 with 8:17 left in the contest. Ursinus was never able to get the lead less than seven points for the remainder of the game.

"We had some excellent teaching moments in this game," added Luck. "We had situations at the end of the game where we needed to take care of the ball and I think our freshman point guard learned a lot today. It was educational, but we were happy we won."

Albright returns to action on Wednesday (Dec. 3) when it opens Commonwealth Conference play at Widener at 6 p.m.

"I feel like we have positive momentum going into that game," said Luck. "With Widener you are going to have to play good defense no matter what, but the offensive end of the floor is huge against them. They play scrappy, tough defense and they guard you all over the floor but I feel good about where we are offensively. The girls are really excited for Wednesday."
