Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team never trailed in their home opener as they opened a 21-3 lead to start the game, and won a 66-36 decision over visiting CCNY. The Bulldogs improve to 2-2, 1-0 CUNYAC with the win as the Beavers fall to 0-4, 0-1 CUNYAC.

Brooklyn was playing without starter and leading scorer Megan Campbell, who was out with an injury, however her replacement in the starting lineup, Nacirema Mann, was outstanding, scoring a game-high 18 points while also pulling down five boards.

Mann ignited much of the Bulldogs first half, scoring 12 of her 18 in the period. Mann was highly efficient, going 8 for 11 from the field.

While Brooklyn led throughout, City did make it intersting as they began the second half on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to six, however, the Bulldogs quickly responded with a 13-3 run of their own to balloon the lead back to 16, and built on their lead from there, running away with the 30-point victory.

Senior guards Nicole Francomano and Vanessa D'Ambrosi also notched double-figure scoring, as Francomano chipped in with 14, while D'Ambrosi added 11. Francomano had team-highs of four assists and four steals, while D'Ambrosi pulled down a team-high eight boards.

Senior forward Asia Foster was also big, scoring five points, grabbing seven boards and dishing out three assists.

Freshman guard Karen Mak had her best game to date, filling up the stat sheet with seven points, five boards, four steals and three assists.  Classmate, and backcourt member Christina Heyer chipped in with five points and two steals in only six minutes of play.

"Tonight was a great team effort," said Head Coach Alex Lang. "We are looking to improve with each game and tonight was a step in the right direction. It was nice to do it in front of a packed gym for our home opener."

City was led by Karissa Core's 15 points in defeat.  Core connected on an impressive 4-7 from beyond the arc.

Brooklyn will be off for a week as they host NYU next Tuesday at West Quad.  That game is scheduled for 6 pm and is the first game in a doubleheader with the men's team who will host Old Westbury in the nightcap.
