Senior center Maggie Weiers had 14 points and eight rebounds and the Tommie defense helped limit Buena Vista to 29-percent shooting in Friday night's 71-48 UST victory in non-conference women's basketball at Schoenecker Arena.

The No. 12-ranked Toms (3-0) used a 27-3 run mid-way through the second half to build a 64-37 lead.

Buena Vista (3-1) averaged more than 90 points in its opening three wins but was limited to half of that in Friday's road game. UST had a 46-36 rebouding edge and helped pressure BVU into 23 turnovers.

Sarah Smith had 11 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks; Jenna Dockter had 13 points, four assists and three steals; and freshman Maddie Wolkow chipped in 10 points.

The Tommies are idle until a Nov. 30 home game against UW-Stevens Point
