Wellesley, Mass.-Senior forward Colleen McLaughlin (Weymouth, MA) scored a team-high nine points and recorded five rebounds as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team fell, 95-56, to host Babson in the second game of the Babson Tip-Off Classic on Sunday afternoon.

Babson (2-0) jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead when junior forward Linnett Graber (Roseland, NJ) nailed a jump shot off a feed from classmate Megan Otto (Scituate, MA). The Beavers increased their lead to 18, 22-4, when sophomore guard Taylor Russell (Braintree, MA) knocked down a three-pointer off a feed from Graber with 12:01 remaining in the half. The teams traded baskets down the stretch and the Beavers took the 51-24 lead into the half.

RIC (0-2) shot 8-for-30 (26.7 percent) from the field in the first half, while Babson shot 19-for-33 (57.6 percent) in the stanza.

The second half saw the teams trade baskets early with the Beavers holding the, 72-36, lead with 9:56 remaining in the contest. A 9-7 run by the Anchorwomen, capped by a jumper from sophomore guard Meghan Reall (Smithfield, RI) off a feed from classmate guard Alex Moore (West Newbury, MA) cut the Babson lead to 34, 79-45. Babson used a 16-11 run down the stretch to close out the 95-56 victory.

RIC was led by McLaughlin's nine points and five rebounds, while freshman guard Rybecca Gonzalez (Pawtucket, RI) notched eight points and two rebounds.

Babson was paced by Graber's 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Russell tallied 14 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Rhode Island College shot 18-for-57 (31.6 percent) from the field, while shooting 3-for-16 (18.8 percent) from three-point range. They also shot 63 percent (17-for-27) from the charity stripe.

Babson shot 52.2 percent (36-for-69) from the field, while shooting an amazing 40 percent (6-for-15) from downtown. They shot a solid 70.8 percent (17-for-24) from the free throw line.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Emmanuel on Thursday, Nov. 20 (7 p.m.).
