Women’s Basketball Wins Season Opener 55-37

Willimantic, Conn. – The Framingham State University women's basketball team opened the 2014-2015 season with a 55-37 victory over Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon at the Eastern Connecticut University Tip-off Tournament.

The Rams were paced offensively by senior Margo McCarthy (Southampton, Mass.) who finished with fourteen points and seven rebounds. Classmate Nicole Bostic (Easton, Mass.) tallied ten points and three steals in thirty-one minutes on the floor.

Sophomore Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) had eleven rebounds off the bench for the Rams.

As a team the Rams shot 21-54 from the floor including 6-13 from downtown. Wesleyan shot 14-62 from the floor and 0-19 from three-point range.

The Rams will play in the Tip-off championship tournament at 3 p.m. on Sunday vs. Eastern Connecticut.
