ARLINGTON (VA) – Delaware Valley College dominated from start to finish as the Aggies opened the 2014-15 season with a 67-35 rout of Lehman in the first round of the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament at Marymount University.

 

Delaware Valley will now meet the host Saints in Sunday's championship game (5:00 p.m.). Marymount upended Albright College, 65-60, in the tournament's opening contest.

 

The Aggies, who returned everyone from last year's Freedom Conference and ECAC playoff-qualifying team, never trailed in the game as they opened with a 17-6 lead in the first 10 minutes. Five different players scored during that time, including four apiece from Shannon Barlow and Brittany Wood. They build the lead to as many as 14 in the first stanza and took a 32-19 advantage into the intermission.

 

The second half was even stronger for Delaware Valley as they outscored Lehman, 35-16, and held them to just 4-for-28 shooting (14.3 percent) from the field. Meanwhile, the Aggies connected of 12 of 21 attempts for 57.1 percent shooting.

 

Delaware Valley put the contest away by scoring the first nine points of the half and 18 of the first 22 for a 50-23 lead. The advantage swelled to as many as 33 before the final margin of 32.

 

All 11 players who dressed for the game saw time for the Aggies, who finished 25-for-48 (52.1 percent) from the field, including 8-for-20 from beyond the arc. They also had a 42-30 advantage on the boards and dished out 19 assists on the 25 field goals.

 

All-conference and all-region guard Eireann Anastasi had 13 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Wood came off the bench and hit three treys of her own as she finished with 13 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Barlow had 10 points and five boards while Agatha Drozd added 10 points and five rebounds. Brenna Coll finished the evening with eight points, a team-high nine rebounds and five assists.

 

Lehman was led by Jennifer Navarro's 11 points.
