Marymount’s Katelyn Fischer Earns Named DIII News Third Team All-America

Beaverton, Ore. – Marymount University senior standout Katelyn Fischer earned yet another national honor after being named Women's DIII News Third Team All-America. The All-America nod is the second for Fischer this season after also being recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Another addition to her already impressive résumé, Fischer was recently named Honorable Mention All-America by the WBCA for the third straight season.  She was also awarded the Jostens Trophy which recognizes outstanding student-athletes in NCAA Division III basketball for excellence in the classroom, on the playing court and in the community.  In addition, Fischer was named First Team All-Atlantic Region by D3Hoops.com and was tabbed First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference for the third consecutive year.

Fischer averaged 15.5 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor, 39.1% from three-point range and 83.2 percent from the free throw line.  She led the CAC in assists, was second in free throw shooting, third in three-point shooting and assist to turnover ratio, eighth in scoring and ninth in steals.

For her career, Fischer set the CAC record for career three-pointers made (204) and set Marymount records for career assists, three-pointers (204), three-point shooting (40.1%) and free throw shooting (82.5%).  She finished her career in third place overall at MU in scoring (1,664 points) and sixth in steals (263).

Fischer is a two-time CAC Player of the Year and has received numerous All-America accolades during her sophomore and junior seasons.  In addition to her athletic accolades, Fischer was also named a First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second year in a row this season.
