UT Dallas' Morgan Kilgore Named ASC Player of the Year

RICHARDSON, TX (03.05.14) - UT Dallas senior forward Morgan Kilgore has been named the American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year, announced by the league office Wednesday. Kilgore leads four Comets who were recognized on the All-ASC teams.

Joining Kilgore on the All-ASC teams were junior guard Christina Brosnahan, who was tabbed second team All-ASC, junior guard Jo'Anna Davis, who was named honorable mention All-ASC, and junior guard Amber Brown, who was named to the ASC's All-Defensive Team.

Kilgore, a native of Webster, set a program record with 480 points in her final season in a Comet uniform, ranking second in the ASC with 17.8 points per game. She added a team-best 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 57.2 percent from the field. Kilgore also finished the season with 1.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks per game this season. She scored in double figures in all 27 games this season, including nine games with 20 more points and a career-best 31 points against Howard Payne on Nov. 23. In just two seasons with the program, Kilgore has climbed into fourth all-time on the UTD career scoring list with 867 points and ranks 13th all-time with 340 rebounds. She was a second team All-ASC pick as a junior.

Brosnahan, a native of Houston, finished her junior season with 11.1 points per game while starting all 27 contests. She added 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from three-point range. Brosnahan was named to the ASC East's All-Freshman Team in 2012.

Davis, a native of Cushing, was second on the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game while adding 4.2 rebounds per outing as a junior. She shot 42.6 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from three-point range on the season. Davis was a second team All-ASC East pick as a sophomore after finding a place on the ASC East's All-Freshman Team in 2012.

Brown, a native of Dallas, was honored for her defensive play for the second straight season, after being named to the ASC East's All-Defensive Team as a sophomore. Brown finished the season with 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while adding 1.3 steals per game. She was an honorable mention All-ASC East pick as a sophomore.

The Comets finished the 2013-14 campaign with a 21-6 overall record, matching the program record for victories. UTD went 17-5 in ASC play in the regular season, locking down the No. 2 seed in the ASC Tournament. The Comets advanced to the ASC semifinals for the fourth straight season.
