(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) scored an NCAA Division III record 63 points to lead the third-ranked and top-seeded Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 106-88 win over fifth-seeded Waynesburg University tonight (Friday, February 28, 2014) in the semifinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 27-0 and advance to tomorrow's championship game. The Saints will play third-seeded Washington & Jefferson College in the championship game at 4 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 15-12.

Moss broke the previous mark of 61 when she made two free-throws with 18-seconds to play in the game. The previous record was set by Oberlin College's Ann Gilbert when she scored 61 points against Allegheny College on February 6, 1991.

Thomas More jumped out to a 14-8 lead when Moss made a lay-up with 13:30 to play in the first half. Waynesburg answered with a 14-6 run capped by a Katie Gehlmann three-pointer to take a 22-20 lead with 11:19 to play in the opening half. The Saints led by as many as 18 points as they closed out the half on a 35-18 run to take a 55-40 lead at halftime.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second half on a 9-7 run to cut the lead to 62-49 with 17:21 to play in the game when Elaine Hasek made a three-pointer. Thomas More answered with a 9-0 to take its biggest lead of the game at 71-49 when Moss made a lay-up with 16:22 to play in the second half. Waynesburg responded with a 37-27 run capped by a Lauren Blair three-pointer with 3:23 to play in the game to cut the lead to 98-86. Thomas More closed out the half on an 8-2 capped by Moss' record breaking two free-throws for the 106-88 win.

Joining Moss in double-figure scoring was senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 19 points and junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 10. Moss led the team on the boards with a game-high nine rebounds and steals with a game-high six. Senior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team in assists with six.
