The women's basketball team won their seventh straight CUNYAC Championship Tournament by defeating rival Hunter College, 70-54, on Friday night before an ESPN3 TV audience at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of CCNY in Harlem, New York.

The championship earns the team an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament that will get underway nationally on Friday, March 7. The bracket and host sites will be announced on Monday, March 3 at 2:30 pm via an online webcast at NCAA.com.

The two teams played a competitive first half with the Bearcats leading by three (32-29), but in the second half it was a different story.

The Bearcats shot 61 percent and Francess Henry scored 10 of her 11 of her points in the second half to earn Tournament MVP honors for the second straight year.

Iyana Abrams scored 15 points and Sheridan Taylor recorded another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds to also help the team win their 24th straight game on the court of CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium. 

Lynda Fields scored eight points, Alicea Ulmer had seven points, and Malika Rose Abdusalaam had six points to contribute to the record-setting win.

Defense was a key factor with the Bearcats dominating the boards with convincing 53-31 advantage and they limited the Hawks to 30.2 percent (19-for-63) shooting.

Kristin Markoe led the Hawks with 23 points, which included a long jumper as the clock expired before halftime.
