Six Blue Devils score in double figures as Stout downs La Crosse

MENOMONIE (February 19, 2014) - UW-Stout, led by Kyleigh Hebert (So, Spencer) and Tara Matter (Fr, Spencer), had six players score in double figures en route to an 89-72 over UW-La Crosse.

Hebert and Matter each scored 17 points for the Blue Devils (10-14, 6-9 WIAC).  Matter also collected 10 rebounds to record her first career double double for Stout.  Stout got double figure scoring from Brea Boomer (Jr, Grand Portage, Minn.) (11 points), Sami Schoeder (Sr, Durand) (13 points), Katelynne Folkers (Jr, Fall Creek) (10 points) and Becca Smith (Fr, Victoria, Minn) (10 points).  Folkers almost added a double double of her own, collecting nine rebounds in the game.  

The first half was a back and forth affair which saw 10 ties and five lead changes.  The Blue Devils took the lead for good on a jump shot by Folkers with 4:52 left in the first half.  Stout would score eight of the next 10 points to take a 45-37 lead into halftime.  

The second half was a different story as the Blue Devils led from start to finish.  Hebert scored 15 of her 17 in the second half to ensure there would be no La Crosse comeback.   

The Eagles (10-15, 4-12 WIAC) were led by Erin Levenhagen and Mallory Cramer.  Levenhagen led all scorers with 23 points for the game.  Cramer recorded a double double of her own, with 20 points and 12 rebounds. 

The win strengthens the playoff chances for the Blue Devils.  Their playoff standing will not be determined until after the final WIAC games Saturday, February 22. 

Stout will conclude regular season play by hosting UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, February 22.
