Bison Fall To Bearcats

Feb. 15 – LATROBE, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team fell to Presidents' Athletic Conference counterpart Saint Vincent 114-56 on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts raced out to a 22-6 lead over the first seven minutes of the contest. The run was capped off with a Jessica Welsh three-point basket at the 13:32 mark

The Bison would respond, however, receiving back-to-back triples from Sami Schott (Caldwell, Ohio/Shenandoah) and Taylor Verrico (Monaca, Pa./Quigley), to cut the Bearcat lead to just 10 points (22-12) with 12:09 remaining in the first half.

Saint Vincent would continue to hold the lead, entering intermission with a 61-27 advantage.

The second half saw the Bison give their best effort, but ultimately fall, dropping a conference game for the first time in four contests.

The Bison were led by Verrico and Gabrielle Naples (Salem, Ohio/South Range). Verrico finished with a team-high 11 points and three rebounds. Naples chipped in nine points and five rebounds.

The women will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 19, when they play host to PAC member Thomas More College. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
