SUPERIOR (February 12, 2014) - Sami Schoeder (Sr, Durand) had 20 points and Kyleigh Hebert (So, Spencer) had 18 as Stout was able to hold off a late surge by the Yellowjackets to capture a 77-70 victory Wednesday night.

Stout hit a season-high 8 three-pointers in the victory, including five by Schoeder while also shooting a season high 42.1 percent (8-19) from downtown. Hebert shot 10-14 from the free throw line, including 4-5 over the final 1:30 to help preserve the win.

Katelynne Folkers (Jr, Fall Creek) got the ball rolling for the Blue Devils, coming up with steals on Superior's first two possessions. A pair of free throws from Hebert after the second one put the Blue Devils up, 2-0, under a minute into the game.

The Yellowjackets settled down after that, hitting four of their first five shots while the Stout hit just 1-5, a three-pointer by Schoeder. Another steal by Folkers, which she took end-to-end, made the game 8-7 in Superior's favor at the 16 minute mark.

Neither team was able to gain a clear advantage over the next seven minutes before the Blue Devils broke things open with a little over nine minutes to go in the half. Leading 20-19, a jumper by Tara Matter (Fr, Spencer) and a three-pointer from Becca Smith (Fr, Victoria, Minn.) gave Stout a 25-19 lead, their largest of the game to that point.

After a Yellowjacket layup by Allie Nelson, Stout ripped off 9-1 run, with Schoeder providing 8 points on a pair of three's and a layup, to take a 34-22 lead with just under five minutes to go in the first.

Stout would push the lead to as many as 15 points, when a Nikki Alexander (Jr, Wabasha, Minn.) jumper gave the Blue Devils a 41-26 advantage with 3:23 to go. A 6-1 Superior run to close out the half gave Stout a 42-32 lead going into the break. The 42 points are the most Stout has scored in the first half this season, and the 10 point lead is also the most the team has led by at the half.

The Yellowjackets kept things interesting with a 17-8 stretch over the first 10 minutes of the half, cutting Stout's lead to 1, 50-49. Schoeder's final three of the night on the next possession put Stout back up by four.

Superior wasnt done yet though, grabbing the lead back for the first time since the first half, going up 56-55 on a Britnee Blake three-pointer with 7:46 remaining in the game.

The teams would continue to go back-and-forth, with three lead changes and three ties over the next three minutes before a jumper by Jenna Goldsmith (Fr, St. Anthony, Minn.) gave Stout a 64-63 lead with 5:08 to go. The Blue Devils would not trail again.
