The women's basketball team returned to their winning ways on Friday night with an 86-58 road victory at the College of Staten Island.

The visiting Bearcats (14-6, 10-2) used solid defense to score 39 points off 28 turnovers to hand the Dolphins (16-4, 11-1 CUNYAC) their first conference loss of the season.

The victory helps the Bearcats avenge a January 5 loss to the Dolphins that snapped a 52-game home winning streak against CUNYAC opponents in the ARC Arena.

Tonight's road victory did help the Bearcats stretch their winning streak to seven on Staten Island's home court dating back to 2006. The last loss in Staten Island took place on January 14, 2004.

Francess Henry led the way this evening with 22 points and five steals, while Iyana Abrams finished another all-around effort with 15 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Ashika Kuruvilla had another big effort off the bench with a career-high 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

The Bearcats shot 45.1 percent (32-for-71) in the game, which included 53.3 percent (16-for-30) during the second half. The bench totaled 40 points as the entire roster saw action.

Katelyn Hepworth led the Dolphins with 18 points and 15 rebounds.

The Bearcats will return home to the ARC Arena on Monday, February 3, at 5:30 pm, for a CUNYAC contest against Brooklyn College.
