Trinity Women's Basketbal Beaten At Bowdoin

Brunswick, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team opened the second half on a 25-4 run to pull away from the visiting Trinity College Bantams, 59-46, this evening in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action at Morrrell Gymnasium.  Trinity falls to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the NESCAC with its third straight loss, all coming against teams ranked among the top 20 in the nation, while No. 19-ranked Bowdoin improves to 18-2 overall and 5-1 in the league.

Bowdoin held a 28-20 lead at halftime, but the game was decided in the first ten minutes of the second half when the Polar Bear run put the game out of reach.  Trinity shot 27 percent (16-59) from the field, including 20 percent (3-15) from long-distance. The Polar Bears converted on 43 percent from the field and held a 41-32 edge in rebounding.  Trinity senior forward Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) had six points and a team-high eight rebounds, while junior Emily Kauls (North Oaks, Minn.) scored six points off the bench.  Sara Binkhorst scored a game-high 17 points for the Polar Bears while Megan Phelps pitched in 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Bowdoin. Trinity had four players finish with six points in the loss.
