William Paterson Women’s Basketball Loses to No. 11/13 Montclair State, 81-60

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (10-9, 7-5 NJAC) suffered an 81-60 home loss against No. 11/13 Montclair State (17-2, 11-1 NJAC) Jan. 29.

 

The Red Hawks were red-hot from the field during the opening stanza, scoring 20 of the game's first 24 points en route to a 53-20 halftime advantage. Junior Janitza Aquino's 8-for-9 (.889) shooting from three-point range helped MSU compile a 59.4 (19-32) field-goal percentage and 66.7 (12-18) three-point field-goal percentage during the game's first 20 minutes.

 

Senior guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) scored a season-high 35 points for the Pioneers, adding 13 rebounds and six assists. Sophomore guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) contributed 11 tallies.

 

Aquino scored 24 of her team-best 26 points during the first half, while senior Nicosia Henry had 15 tallies and 11 rebounds for MSU. Junior Melissa Tobie pulled down a game-best 15 rebounds, and sophomore Kayla Ceballos added 11 points from off the bench.

 

William Paterson will return to action Saturday, Feb. 1, at Rowan at 3:00 p.m.
