Huber and Parsons Lead Jackets Past Maroons

SALEM, Va. —The Yellow Jackets improved to 6-2 in the ODAC today after defeating Roanoke 110-93 in women's basketball play.

Roanoke (8-8, 4-4 ODAC) kept the lead for the first 16 minutes of the contest until R-MC (13-4, 6-2 ODAC) went on a 10-2 run to tie the game for a second time at 45-45 with four minutes remaining in the half. However, the Maroons would respond by taking the 57-54 lead at intermission.

In the second minute of the second stanza, the Yellow Jackets took their first lead of the game on two free-throws by junior Taylor Huber (Ashland, VA / Patrick Henry). The R-MC offense would not look back, shooting 46.1% from the field over RC's 38.3% to bring home the 110-93 victory and their sixth 100+ point win of the season.

Huber led all scorers with 31 points shooting 10-20 from the field with five three's and six free-throws. Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, VA / J.R. Tucker) added 22 points, nine boards, and a perfect 10-10 from the stripe. Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, VA / Patrick Henry) finished the day with 19 points shooting .500 from the field, recording seven boards.

The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team travels to Harrisonburg, VA Tuesday, January 28th to take on Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 PM ODAC matchup. The Yellow Jackets return to Ashland Saturday, February 1st for their 25th annual Back to the Hive reunion and will host Lynchburg College at 2:00 PM in Crenshaw Gymnasium.
