NEWBERG, ORE. – Juniors Jami Roos and Dacia Heckendorf combined for 7-9 three-point shooting to guide the George Fox University Bruins to a 70-58 victory over the University of Puget Sound Loggers in women's Northwest Conference basketball action Saturday night here at the Miller Gym inside of the Wheeler Sports Center.

Roos finished with 14 points and Heckendorf scored nine as the Bruins (16-1, 7-1 NWC) overpowered the Loggers (11-6, 4-4 NWC) for the eighth consecutive time. Sophomore Jordyn Peacock scored 14 and picked up nine rebounds, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double for her third consecutive home game.

The game was competitive early as the first five minutes saw five lead changes. Twice George Fox did build a lead of four points – once with 15 minutes remaining and once with 12:31 left – but Puget Sound managed to battle back and draw even both times. However, the third time was for good as George Fox outscored Puget Sound 12-5 in the half's final five minutes and led 33-26 at the break. Roos hit thrice from beyond the arc to lead George Fox with nine points.

The second half began with a six-point Bruin run, building George Fox a 39-26 advantage. While the Loggers managed to cut the deficit to within eight points several times, the Bruin lead was never seriously threatened and grew as high as 17.

Besides Roos and Peacock each scoring 14, sophomore Justine Benner hit 10 to join them in double digits. Junior transfer Lauren Colding was active away from the hoop, registering a game-high 11 boards and dishing out seven assists. The Bruins went 25-62 (40.3%) from the field and out-rebounded the Loggers 46-34.

Puget Sound sophomore Emily Sheldon shot for a game-high 18 points while junior Amanda Forshay led the Loggers with nine rebounds. The Loggers went a combined 24-61 (34.3%) from the field.
