University of Texas-Dallas led from start-to-finish en route to a 74-58 win over the LeTourneau University women's basketball on Thursday night in Solheim Arena.

The YellowJackets (4-7, 2-6 ASC) were led by freshman Ashley Crockett, who came off the bench to score a career-best 18 points in 19 minutes of action. She was joined in double figures by senior Julencia Curtis, who added 12 in the defeat.

The Comets (9-1, 6-1 ASC) were led by Morgan Kilgore, who had a game-high 23 points. She was joined in double digits by Christina Brosnahan, who added 17 in the win.

UTD led from start-to-finish but they had to withstand multiple threats by the host YellowJackets. Five times in the first 20 minutes, LeTourneau cut the deficit to four including when senior Alexis Wighaman made a layup with 4:15 to go in the half. With a 26-22 lead, the visitors went on a 9-1 spurt to extend the lead to 12, 35-23 with 2:28 to play. All nine of the points came from the tandem of Kilgore and Brosnahan.

As the two teams went into the intermission with UTD holding a 39-27 lead, the visitors were shooting 53.6% from the field compared to 33.3% for the YellowJackets. LeTourneau held a 17-6 advantage on bench scoring and an 8-4 margin on second-chance points.

In the second half, LeTourneau cut the deficit to 12, 48-36, when sophomore Ashley Stephens knocked down a 3 pointer for the YellowJackets.
However, the visitors answered with an 8-0 spurt stretch the margin to 20 and the closest that LeTourneau would get as close as 12 on a pair of occasions on the strength of a resilient effort. A key factor in that resilient effort was the freshman from Sherman, who scored 11 of her 18 as well as Curtis, who scored 10 of her 12 for the YellowJackets.

The YellowJackets will wrap up its four-game homestand to begin 2014 as they will host Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Solheim Arena.
