WAYNE, N.J. – In a battle of two of the top four teams in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) women's basketball standings, William Paterson (10-7, 7-3 NJAC) distanced itself from The College of New Jersey (11-5, 8-2 NJAC) for a 74-50 victory Jan. 22.

The Lions seized an early 7-2 advantage just 3:17 into the contest, but the Pioneers fought back with six straight points, the start of a back-and-forth four-minute stretch. Consecutive three-pointers by senior forwards Brittany Ennis (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon Regional) and Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) made it a 18-12 WP advantage at the 10:53 mark, and that lead grew to as many as 10 (24-14, 8:02).

William Paterson held off a TCNJ push to end the half and carried a 35-30 edge into the locker room, thanks in large part to Jeter's 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

WP extended its lead to 18 (54-36) by the midway point of the second half, and pushed it to as many as 25 (74-49, 2:11) during the closing minutes. The Pioneers limited the Lions to 31.1 (19-61) percent shooting overall while knocking down 48.3 (28-58) percent of their own attempts.

Senior guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) scored 15 of her game-high 19 points during the second period, adding seven boards and four assists, while Jeter finished with 16 tallies, 11 rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocked shots. Junior center Ashley Marfo (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) collected her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards, and sophomore guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) had 12 tallies and seven rebounds.

Junior guard Kylie O'Donnell led TCNJ with 13 points. Senior center Liz West posted 10 tallies, and senior guard Kelly Roddy pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.

William Paterson will play at Richard Stockton Saturday, Jan. 25, at 3:00 p.m.
