Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team used its stingy defense to outlast the Lady Bears of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in a low scoring affair, 47-35, on Monday evening at Brooklyn Technical High School.

With the win, BC improves to 9-4 overall on the season, while St. Joseph's (Bklyn) falls to 8-6 overall on the year.

The Bulldogs shot just 25.4% (15-for-59) from the field, including 13.6% (3-for-22) from three. Brooklyn took advantage of its free throw opportunities, converting 70.0% (14-for-20) from the line.

The Lady Bears also struggled to get its offense going, shooting 26.0% (13-for-50), including 6.2% (1-for-16) from beyond the arc. St. Joseph's (Bklyn) went 8-for-14 (57.1%) from the charity stripe.

The game featured sloppy play from both teams, as the Bulldogs turned the ball over 26 times, while the Lady Bears were forced into 25 turnovers. Points off of turnovers were key to the BC win, as Brooklyn scored 25 points off of turnovers, while St. Joseph's (Bklyn) was only able to score seven points off of turnovers.

The Bulldogs led for nearly the entire opening half, but it would be the host Lady Bears who would take the intermission advantage using a 6-0 run to close out the period en route to their one-point, 16-15, halftime lead.

Brooklyn would seize control at the start of the second half, using a 7-0 run to regain the lead at 22-16 with 16:48. Freshman Tiffany Ruiz capped the run with a three-pointer. The visitors would never trail in the game again, as the Bulldogs would go on to build a double digit lead to eventually take the 47-35 victory.

Leading the way for BC was junior Nicole Francomano, who netted a team-leading 11 points, to go along with six steals and five rebounds. Senior Megan Campbell also scored in double figures with 10 points, to go with five rebounds, while junior Carissa Williams finished the night with seven points and seven rebounds.
