New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team escaped the Doghouse with a 46-43 road win on Friday evening against the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup.

With the win, BC moves to 8-4 overall on the season and 4-2 in the CUNYAC, while John Jay falls to 4-9 overall on the year and 2-4 in conference play.

The game featured an off shooting night for both teams, as Brooklyn shot just 23.2% (13-for-56) from the field and John Jay converted 29.4% (15-for-51) from the field.

After the Bloodhounds' Tyana Hale scored the opening points on a layup at the 17:15 mark of the first half, Brooklyn would score the next seven points to go ahead 7-2 with 14:42 left before the halftime break. A pair of baskets from T'Keyah Francis and a three from Jaclyn Grasso powered the BC surge.

The Bulldogs would never trail in the period again as the visitors would expand their lead to double figures, leading by as many as 16 on two occasions, before taking a 14-point, 27-13, halftime advantage.

BC's offense would go ice cold to start the second half, as the Bloodhounds erased their halftime deficit by scoring 16 straight points to take their first lead of the game since the opening bucket, 29-27, with 13:27 left in the game. Brooklyn would get its first points of the half on a pair of free throws from Sarah Shanderson at the 12:54 mark of the period that tied the game at 29 all, putting an end the Bulldogs' scoring drought.

From that point forward, neither team would lead by more than three, as both teams looked to squeak out the victory in the closing minutes.

With the game tied at 41-41, a jumper from Hale with just 52 seconds remaining put the home team ahead by two, 43-41, as the Bloodhounds looked to complete their second half comeback. However, Brooklyn would answer with a big three-pointer from Grasso that put the Bulldogs back up by one, 44-43, with just 47 ticks left on the clock.

Hale once again looked to regain the lead for the Bloodhounds; however her three-pointer would go off the mark, as Brooklyn collected the rebound. The Bulldogs would hit a pair of key free throws in the closing seconds from Carissa Williams and Nicole Francomano that closed out the game, as BC avoided a second half collapse to take home the 46-43 win.

For the game, Francomano led Brooklyn with a team-high 14 points. Francis finished with a near double-double with nine points and nine rebounds coming off the bench, while Grasso and Shanderson chipped in with seven and six points, respectively. Williams grabbed eight rebounds.

For John Jay, Hale led all scorers with 16 points, while Jamecia Forsythe pulled in a game-high 17 rebounds.

Brooklyn will return to action this Monday, January 10th, as the Bulldogs will travel to borough rival St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time. Live stats and video will be available for the game.
