Keystone Falls to Eastern in Non-Conference Action, 73-64

La Plume, PA – Eastern University got a game-high 22 points from Gina DiDomenico and 21 rebounds from 21 rebounds from Emily Lavin on their way to a 73-64 victory over Keystone College in non-conference women's basketball action on Thursday night at the Gambal Athletic Center.  The Eagles improve to 7-6 on the season with the win while the Giants slip to 9-3 after having their winning streak snapped at three games. 
 
Eastern used an early, 10-3 run to build a 16-8 lead with 13:09 remaining in the first half before Keystone countered with the game's next six points to cut their deficit to two points at the 10:48 mark when Jerica Rode (Lords Valley, PA/Wallenpaupack) scored on a layup.  The Eagles answered with an 11-3 spurt to push their lead to 10 points, 27-17, with just over seven minutes remaining in the opening stanza.  Six consecutive points by the Giants narrowed the visitor's lead to four points with 4:45 left on the clock, but Eastern would hold a 34-29 halftime lead.
 
DiDomenico led the Eagles with 14 first-half points while Lavin corralled nine rebounds for Eastern, who held a 27-19 advantage on the glass in the opening 20 minutes of play.  The visitors shot 33.3 percent from the field including a 6-10 effort from beyond the arc, led by DiDomenico's 4-6 half from downtown.
 
Rode and Jazmyn Robinson (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) scored nine points apiece to lead Keystone's offense in the period while Dyjae Williams (Newark, NJ/Bloomfield) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.  The Giants connected on 41.4 percent of their shots from the floor in the opening half while going 1-8 from beyond the arc and 4-7 from the free throw line. 
 
Eastern extended their lead to 16 points at 57-41 seven and a half minutes into the second half before Keystone used a 16-4 run to climb back into the game as the Giants would trail by just four points, 61-57, with 6:13 remaining after Chantel Blake (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) connected on a three pointer.  The Eagles, however, would halt the Giants' run and put the game out of reach by using a 10-3 run over the next 3:15 to hold a 71-60 with just under three minutes to play and the visitors were able to run out the clock to secure the win.
 
DiDomenico finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with nine assists to lead the Eagles, who got 16 points from Meghan Nowak and a double-double on 14 points and a game-high 21 rebounds from Lavin.  Kaitlyn Dougherty also reached double-figures with 10 points for the Eagles, who shot 39.7 percent from the field for the game and 50 percent from three-point land while making two of five free throw attempts on the night. 
 
Robinson led Keystone with 15 points and five assists while Blake and Ashley Evans (Wooster, OH/Wooster) netted 13 points apiece in the loss.  Rode netted 11 points and two blocked shots while Alyssa Cuomo (Odessa, DE/Hodgson Vo-tech) contributed 10 points and a team-leading eight rebounds for the Giants, who shot 42.6 percent from the field, 23.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 69.2 percent from the free throw line for the game.
 
Keystone resumes Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Monday night when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy University for a league game that is scheduled to tipoff at 6:00 p.m. in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
