UNION, N.J. – William Paterson (6-7, 3-3 NJAC) scored 10 of the game's final 12 points, putting away Kean (6-7, 3-3 NJAC) for a 66-60 women's basketball victory Jan. 8.

A Jazmine Davis fast-break layup handed the host Cougars a 58-56 advantage with 3:26 to play, but senior guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) converted a layup of her own to knot the score 75 seconds later. Borova's steal resulted in a bucket by sophomore guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart), nudging the Pioneers ahead by two with 1:46 on the clock, and Kean's miss led to a Borova old-fashioned three-point play and a 63-58 score at the 1:05 mark.

AnnaRose Pierre made it a one-possession game with her layup (63-60, 0:49), but Borova answered with a layup 32 seconds later. Junior center Ashley Marfo (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) stole the ball during the final 10 seconds and was fouled, and she provided the game's final point from the free-throw line.

Harden paced WP with 13 points and five steals, dishing out four assists. Senior forward Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) added seven tallies, four assists and four steals to her game-best 14 rebounds, while senior guard Kristine Jackiewicz (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished with 11 points and six boards. Marfo collected 10 tallies and five rebounds.

William Paterson led by as many as 14 (20-6, 12:48) during the first half, but needed five unanswered points to erase the Cougars' largest advantage of the game and carry a 33-32 edge into the locker room.

Simone Smith scored 15 points to lead Kean, Pierre had 10 tallies and 10 rebounds, and Davis chipped in eight points and 11 boards.

William Paterson will host New Jersey City Saturday, Jan. 11, at 3:00 p.m.
