The Baruch College Bearcats ended a three game losing streak by defeating the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, 57-44, on Tuesday night.

The victory in Brooklyn College's three year old athletic center is the first following two tough defeats during the 2011-12 (64-48 loss) and 2012-13 (71-51 loss) seasons.

With the exception of the first basket scored by the Bulldogs, the Bearcats led the rest of the game and were up 23-13 after a pair of free throws by Iyana Abrams with 3:07 left in the opening half.

The Bulldogs finished the first half with an 11-2 run to cut the lead to 25-24 at halftime, but the Bearcats responded at the start of the second half by scoring the first nine points to lead 34-24 with just under 16 minutes left.

The Bulldogs later made another run to cut the score to four points (40-36) with 8:03 remaining, but a key 3-pointer by Kristen Podlovits, along with baskets by Alicea Ulmer and Abrams, raised the advantage back up to 47-36. That was enough to hold on to the victory.

Abrams led the Bearcats in the scoring column and totaled 16 points for the third straight game with six rebounds and four steals.

Ulmer recorded her third straight double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Podlovits almost had her first career double-double with 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Megan Campbell was the lone player in double-figures for the Bulldogs with 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday night with one of their toughest opponents of the season. They will travel to Madison, New Jersey for a 7:00 pm non-conference contest against #12-ranked and undefeated FDU-Florham (11-0).
