Amani Lightbourne Paces Lehman in Loss at CUNYAC Leader Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team endured a 91-64 loss at host Staten Island on Tuesday night. Lehman falls to 9-5 overall, and 3-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, while CSI improves to 9-3, and 5-0 CUNYAC.

After Lehman sophomore Amani Lightbourne (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton) made a free throw midway through the first half to trim the CSI lead to five points at 21-16, the Dolphins used an 11-0 to seize control.

Junior Melanie Mena (Bronx, N.Y./Aquinas) made a pair of free throws with just under four minutes to play in the first half, then CSI went on an 8-0 run to end the first half.

The lead would never reach single digits again.

For the night, Lightbourne recorded a double-double for Lehman, with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Amely Del Rosario (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) had 22 points, while sophomore Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland) added 11. Junior Shalaya Nieves (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) grabbed 12 rebounds.

The Lightning look to rebound on Saturday, January 11, at CCNY.
