Riverdale, N.Y. – Led by junior Kelly Fraser's (Staten Island, N.Y.) fourth double-double of the season and a career-high 16 rebounds from freshman Brittany Lee (Newton, N.J.), the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team came-from-behind on Tuesday night to score at 69-58 win over Purchase in its conference opener.

The Dolphins never led in the first half on Tuesday and found themselves down by nine points, at 14-5, after a pair of Elizabeth Osowiecki free-throws at the 10:46 mark of the first half. The conversions from Osowiecki closed out a 10-1 run for the Panthers covering over six minutes following a Brittany Carroll (Staten Island, N.Y.) jumper at the 16:48 mark tied the score at 4-4.

Mount Saint Vincent would not be able to get closer than five points in the first half, until quick six point run that got it to within 29-28 on an Andrea Sinaly (Middle Village, N.Y.) bucket with 33 seconds left in the period. Jazmin Garcia got the Panthers back in front by three with a jumper with nine ticks left, before the Mount got a free-throw from Brooke West (Hamilton, N.J.) to head to the locker room trailing 31-29.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the first period, with Purchase shooting just north of 31-percent and the Dolphins converting at a 28.6-percent clip. Purchase built its halftime advantage with a 16-6 edge in second chance scoring and was led by Garcia with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Purchase would maintain the lead until Mount Saint Vincent strung together a 10-2 spurt over 2:30 to pull in front for the first time on the night. Christina Barone (Staten Island, N.Y.) got the Dolphins in front at the 13:52 mark with a pair of free-throws and capped the run with a jumper in the paint to move the Mount in front 46-41.

The Dolphins would spread their lead to 10 points on a West lay-in at 10:29, before Purchase went on a 12-2 run over 3:23 to knot the score at 54-54 with just over seven minutes to play. That would be the last tie of the game as the Mount went on to close the contest scoring 15 of the final 19 points to secure its first win of the New Year.

The Dolphins held Purchase to just nine field goals in the second half, converting 12 and outscoring the visitors 16-9 at the free-throw line. The Dolphins also outrebounded the Panthers after halftime 33-19, including an 11-7 edge on the offensive glass.

The Dolphins finished the game shooting 32.9-percent from the floor, but went 0-for-15 from behind the arc. It marked the first game in which the Mount hadn't hit a triple since February 6, 2013 against Berkeley. The Dolphins did hold Purchase without a three-point field goal, which marked the first time an opponent hadn't hit a trey since November 17, 2012 against Medgar Evers. The last time neither team hit a three-pointer in a game Mount Saint Vincent played in was against New Rochelle on January 26, 2004 when neither team attempted a triple.

Fraser paced the Dolphins with 14 points on Tuesday and a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots. Theresa Carey (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) scored in double-figures for the fourth time this season with 12 points and added four rebounds.

Lee rounded out the game with nine points and hauled down her career mark in rebounds with 16, including seven offensive boards. She added three steals to the winning effort. Barone led the team with three assists and joined Tanisha Montague (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with eight points.

Garcia led all scorers in the game with 24 points for Purchase and added 14 rebounds and five steals. She was the only Purchase player to score in double-figures and made exactly half of the team's 20 field goals in the game.

The Mount Saint Vincent defense forced at least 20 turnovers for the seventh time this season and turned 27 Purchase miscues into 20 points on Tuesday. The team totaled 14 steals, including a team-high four from Barone.

Tuesday's win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 6-2 overall on the season and to 1-0 in league play. Next up for the Mount is a trip to Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off with the Panthers is set for 3:00 p.m.
