Giants Roll to Big Win Over Patriots

Phoenixville, PA – Visiting Keystone College opened up a 32-point halftime lead and cruised to an 85-37 victory over Valley Forge Christian College in non-conference women's basketball action on Sunday afternoon.  The Giants improve to 8-2 on the season with their second road win in as many days while the Patriots fall to 1-7.
 
Chantel Blake (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) led all players with 21 points while Alyssa Cuomo (Odessa, DE/Hodgson Vo-tech) (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Jazmyn Robinson (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) (13 points, 10 assists) added double-doubles for Keystone in the victory.  Ashley Evans (Wooster, OH/Wooster) added 17 points while Jerica Rode (Lords Valley, PA/Wallenpaupack) was the fifth Giants' player in double-figures with 11 points.  Robinson and Rode each hauled in eight rebounds apiece for Keystone, who held a 56-45 advantage on the glass while Robinson also led all players with five steals for the contest.
 
Keystone scored the first 12 points of Sunday afternoon's contest and would lead 26-2 with seven minutes elapsed.  A 10-0 run by the Giants saw their lead swell to 45-10 with 4:50 remaining in the opening half and the visitors would see their lead stand at 32 points, 50-18, at the halftime break.
 
Keystone shot 48.9 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play including a 3-11 effort from three-point land and a 7-12 mark from the free throw line.  Valley Forge Christian shot just 21.9 percent from the field in first stanza, 20 percent from beyond the arc, and 40 percent from the stripe.
 
The Giants lead would grow throughout much of the second half even as Keystone held the ball in long possessions and rolled through their bench as the visitors notched their second road win to start the calendar year.   
 
For the game, Keystone shot 44.9 percent from the floor, 29.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 43.5 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Mikala Brinson led Valley Forge Christian with 13 points while Taniyah Fairson netted nine points in the loss.  Ariene McQuown led all players with 21 rebounds on the day while Rachel Guerrieri collected 10 boards and two blocked shots.
 
Keystone held the hosts to a 24.2 percent shooting effort for the day including a 2-20 mark from three-point range while the Patriots went 5-15 from the free throw line.
 
Keystone returns to the hardwood on Tuesday evening when they host Wells College in a non-conference game scheduled to tipoff at 5:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center in La Plume.
